Man Straps Four Kids to the Hood of a Car thinking “They would like it!” … WTF?

Kids Strapped to Hood!

Just when you thought crazy stories of stupid parents doing stupid things couldn't get any worse, Aaron S. Stefanski has surprised Fort Wayne police (and everyone) by strapping his four children to the hood of his car!

Yes, unfortunately you read that right.

The Journal Gazette of Fort Wayne reported that Stefanski, who is 29 years old, was arrested in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Monday night. The police allege he drove out of a liquor store parking lot with his kids attached to the hood of a car secured using a tow strap. The children's ages range from 4, 5, 6 and 7 and it seems Stefanski was under the very wrong impression that they would enjoy.

The journey lasted for only three blocks. Thankfully a US marshal who was in the area saw the ridiculous car with kids strapped to the hood, and had the common sense to pull over Stefanski and call the police.

The kids had been secured, “with one of those straps you crank on a semi to hold down lumber, they were strapped with that thing, wiggling and wobbling down the street,” said Tom Nowak who witnessed the event when he spoke with the Journal Gazette of Fort Wayne.

The newspaper reported that the children were not harmed by the incident.  (Thankfully!)

Not surprisingly, Stefanski was driving intoxicated and had a blood alcohol content of .17, which is twice the state of Indiana's legal limit. This was what the Fort Wayne Police Department reported.

He is being charged with driving under the influence and neglect of a dependent. Jessica A. Clark, another passenger in the car with him, is also being charge with child neglect. Clark is also 29 years of age and it is unclear if the two were in a relationship.

Three of the children were Stefanski's, and they are currently being cared for by her mother. She was apparently not aware of the transportation methods used by the children's father, until police called her. One of the children strapped to the car, along with Stefanski's three children, was Clark's.

Some of you might remember the story of Shawndeeia Joann Bowen was charged with three counts of child endangerment who was driving while texting with her toddler in her lap. Also she did not have her other two children properly restrained in a seatbelt or carseat.

As terrible as Bowen's actions were, at least she had her kids INSIDE her car while it was moving. Unlike Stefanski and Clark who though it was ok to strap them to the outside of the car!

Seriously people…WTF?

Harley-Davidson Violates Your Privacy!

A few weeks ago I got a phone call at my house.  This is how the beginning of the conversation went:

Me: Hello

Rep: Oh this is Jamie, How are you today?

Me:  Ummm… Ok

Rep:  I was just calling to inquire about how your recent visit to Harley-Davidson of Baltimore with sales associate Heidi Harris was?

Me: What?

Rep:  Well you it says here you visited the dealership and spoke with Heidi Harris recently!

Me:  ….NO!

I went on to tell the operator about how I had never set foot in Harley-Davidson of Baltimore.  I actually have no idea where it is located, who she was talking about… and how annoyed and disturbed I was that she was calling me.  I said I had some dealings with another Harley-Davidson (H-D) dealership regarding my blog, but they should not have my personal info except my email.  I asked, “How did you even get my phone number?”  The operator clearly was at a bit of a loss for words, sensing my angry.  She paused then said, “Well… mmm… I really don't know.  Did you go to any motorcycle events recently?  The answer was a a big, “NO!”  After awhile it came out that my they must have gotten my phone number from when I visited the Harley-Davidson plant in York, PA years ago.  I told the rep, “I am really annoyed I am getting this phone call.”  It turned out the rep was from an independent company and was not directly from Harley-Davidson.  Still this reflects poorly on Harley-Davidson and she claimed she was representing them.  I requested to be removed off the list and assumed that would be end of that.

Not quite!  I got an email on October 28th from Harley-Davidson of Baltimore… from Heidi Harris.  She saw I had mentioned I didn't want additional information, but she still would be happy for me to stop by and and see what they are all about.  Since I am a licensed rider, I am entitled to demo rides on any Harley product.

I mean really?  WTF?  I don't really want phone calls at my house about visits to dealerships that never took place.  I specifically request to be taken off the list from future contact and they send me a friggin email!  I guess motorcycle sales must be really down because of the economy.  This email was sent to my Yahoo email address that is checked infrequently since I use Gmail.  This tells you how long Harley-Davidson has been holding onto my info in desperate hopes I will go into a dealership to buy a bike.

Now I never intend to buy a Harley-Davidson!  Especially knowing how much they violate peoples privacy, including my own.  Until they have a change in privacy standards and practices, I would recommend to all my readers to not buy one either.

Gas over $4!

Well… it's official.  Most gas stations are above $4 in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.  I passed several which were way above the $4 mark.  One Exxon I saw was $4.17 for regular gas!  The gas station (and repair shop) where I work went up 14 cents today!  From $3.95 to $4.09 per gallon for regular gas payed with a credit card.  You save 4 cents paying with cash, but with these prices it makes you feel the pain no matter how you pay.  It's completely crazy!  I saw 1 station that was still at $3.95 for regular.  With most of the other gas stations above the $4 mark they will most likely be going up tomorrow, or have already gone up as of tonight.  It's ridiculous because there  probably is no real reason for the prices to be going up so quickly and going so high.  I guess I need to start grouping my errands and choose where I'm driving carefully.
