Jaguar releases “Desire” at Sundance to showcase new Jaguar F-Type

Jaguar recently released a new film during a private screening at the Sundance London film and music festival titled “Desire” featuring the companies new flagship sports car, the Jaguar F-Type.  While the initial showing of “Desire” was private Jaguar didn't want to keep it that way.  So they released the short movie on Youtube for everyone. Check it out;

British actor Damian Lewis stars in the short 13 minute movie.  You might remember Damian Lewis from “Band of Brothers.”  (He's also got a Golden Globe & Emmy Award too.)  Alongside him the beautiful actress Shannyn Sossamon and Jordi Molla costar.   The other star in the movie is of course the Jaguar F-Type.

Additionally the much loved indie queen and singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey wrote an exclusive song, ‘Burning Desire,' for the short film.  I assume Lana Del Ray was inspired by the awesomenes of the Jaguar F-Type  “It's just good to know now, with people like Jaguar and working with them, that I'm not the only one out there with such strident, creative beliefs.” mentioned Del Ray.  Not sure what that means but I think it means she likes the Jaguar F-type.

Well in case you didn't know the Jaguar F-Type is the first two-seater sports car from Jaguar since the iconic Jaguar E-TYPE was launched 50 years ago.  Many people considered the E-Type one of the greatest road cars ever built and the Jaguar F-Type has been getting great reviews from the auto media.  Hopefully I will be able to drive one soon.

If you like the short film, please leave a comment below and let me know.

Dubai Police add Lamborghini Aventador supercar to vehicle fleet

Lamborghini Aventador

If you are speeding in Dubai or trying to get away from a crime, you better watch out!  The Dubai police force have now added a formidable weapon to their police fleet, a Lamborghini Aventador supercar.  This means nobody is getting away from the Dubai police!

The announcement came via the Twitter on the Dubai police Twitter feed @DubaiPoliceHQ.

And there was also this Tweet too;

Last month the Dubai police added Chevy Camaro's to their fleet and last year a set of Dodge Chargers were added as well.  Also the Dubai Police have confirmed there will be introducing sports cars that are specially tuned for the police fleet to enhance patrolling capabilities.

The news of Dubai adding the Lamborghini Aventador supercar to it's fleet of police vehicles has obviously created a lot of social media buzz.  A new Twitter hashtag, #OnlyinDubai, is now quite popular on the social network.

The Lamborghini Aventador costs roughly just shy of $400,000 and is equipped with a gigantic 6.5 liter V12 engine that has a whopping 700-horsepower.  The Aventador is capable of speeds up to 217 mph, meaning no bad guys will be able to escape.

Most police forces obviously couldn't afford to buy a supercar but “Only in Dubai” is it possible.  The government is flush with oil money making the purchase of a Lamborghini Aventador, set of Chevy Camaros, Dodge Chargers, and customized sports cars no big deal.

The Dubai police haven't bought these cars just for the media attention, social media buzz, or just to be flashy though.  According to SkyNews roughly 15% of traffic citations issued in Dubai each day are for driving at speeds in excess of 130mph, police reports released in March showed.  Vehicle deaths in 2012 were 122, with 2,161 injuries, many of which occurred on the Dubai's notorious Sheikh Zayed highway.

The Dubai police feel to be able to catch these high speed offenders, they need just as fast cars.  In Dubai gas prices are cheaper than drinking water, meaning you don't need to worry about running down your tank if you are going over 130+ mph.  Wouldn't that be nice?

The moral of this story?  If you have ever thought about joining the police force, then you better move to Dubai! 🙂
