Toyota joins forces with Muppets for Super Bowl commercial

toyota super bowl commercial

This year Toyota has decided to join forces with Jim Henson's legendary Muppets for the big game tomorrow or (February 2nd,  2014).  Toyota is airing their Super Bowl commercial on TV for the all-new 2014 Toyota Highlander. The Super Bowl spot will feature the Muppets and the actor Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Idiocracy).

Toyota Highlander – Joyride

About a week ago Toyota released this teaser trailer for the Toyota Highlander Super Bowl commercial.

The Muppets will be coming out with a movie in March, 2014 “Muppets Most Wanted” so Disney and Toyota seemed to feel this was a good cross promotion for both brands.  What did you think of this Toyota Super Bowl Commercial?  Was it awesome, good, bad or terrible?  Let me know your thoughts about it.

Lincoln’s “Phoenix” is a So-So Super Bowl Commercial

Lincoln's “Phoenix” Super Bowl commercial was much better than the Twitter generated “Steer The Script” experiment they tried.  This commercial had great images, a nice song, good narration, and got the message across about the improved technology and 2013 Lincoln MKZ.  Honestly though I am not sure it measured up against other Super Bowl Spots and automaker ads this year.

Better luck next year Lincoln!  I think the look of the new Lincoln MKZ is nice though.

Kia Needs A Different Ad Agency for the Super Bowl [Video]

Kia really had an amazingly bad Super Bowl commercial this year.  I mean I was watching it and just thought “WTF? They think this will make me want to actually buy a Kia Forte?”

Basically the commercial is a geeky guy checking out the 2014 Kia Forte while “Hotbots” stand guard around it.  When he gets too close one of the Hotbots kicks him, give him a wedgie, then throws him across the room.  Then music plays and you see the words “Respect the Tech” across the screen.

Not sure who or what ad and marketing agency came up with this commercial but they certainly need to be fired.  I think for next year's Super Bowl Kia should hire whoever did Hyundai's commercials.

Hyundai’s Makes You Laugh with ‘Don’t Tell’ Super Bowl Ad [Video]

Hyundai's “Don’t Tell” Super Bowl commercial shows you why you don't tell your Mom certain things.  A Dad takes his kids on all sorts of adventures such as going to a scary movie, going skiing down the advanced slope, throwing toilet paper in a tree, getting junk food, going to a rock concert, and more.

Honestly we have all been in these types of “Don't Tell” situations before whether it be a parents, siblings, friends, or a spouse.  I think the commercial was well thought out and creative.

I guess Hyundai is really pushing the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe, since this Super Bowl spot was also for the Santa Fe.

Hyundai’s ‘Epic Playdate’ Appeals to Families [Video]

Hyundai had an excellent set of Super Bowl commercials this year.  “Stuck” and “Team” were two of my favorite commercials overall even when compared to other Super Bowl advertisers.  (That essentially means other ad agencies have a lot of work to do for next year's Super Bowl or simply were not thinking or getting paid enough.)

“Epic Playdate” featured the band the “Flaming Lips” this shows what do for fun with your family and of course you do it in the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe.   The commercial mainly appealed to families the targeted market.  While I did like this commercial and think it was fun, it wasn't nearly as creative or well done as “Stuck” and “Team.” The Youtube view counts seems to agree with that statement.
