Hunt Valley Cars and Coffee

Hunt Valley Cars and Coffee is having it's 6-month anniversary tomorrow morning.  My friend Gypsy Jack has told me it's turned into quite a big and fun “gearhead” meetup for people from around Maryland and Pennsylvania.  People will even drive up from Virginia for Hunt Valley Cars and Coffee to my understanding.

The Hunt Valley Cars and Coffee not only attracts a wide range of people, but cars and vehicles are diverse too.  Classics, tuners, exotics, sportbikes, cruisers, lowriders, hot rods, etc.  You name it, someone is going to come by with it, probably has, or eventually will.  Check out some pictures from Hunt Valley Cars and Coffee.

Where: Hunt Valley Towne Centre, 118 Shawan Rd, Hunt Valley MD, 21030

When: Saturdays, 7:30 am – 10:30 am

Why: Because you like talking with other gearheads!

People usually gather in front of the closed Best Buy, since that is where the most parking is.  Most people go over to Caribou Coffee to get coffee.  Some people stay until 10:30 but I believe most are out of there by 9:30.

FYI after or before) Cars and Coffee I would recommend going to the Pennsylvania Dutch Market on York Rd.  All you do is take a right on York Rd and go for about half a mile and then turn left onto Ashland Rd.  The baked goods, donuts, and food there is AMAZING and it's run by Amish.  Also the coffee here will be better in my opinion.  It's a great thing to do if you have out-of-town guests or want to treat yourself.  The Amish have me hooked on their apple fritters and cookies!

22nd Annual East Coast Indoor Nationals – Dec. 3-4

East Coast Indoor Nationals

If you love Cars and Motorcycles, there is only one place to be this weekend, the 22nd Annual East Coast Indoor Nationals.  This is the largest Pre-1973 All American Car & Motorcycle Show on the east coast!  There will be cool muscle cars, classic rides, antiques, hot-rods, drag cars, and custom motorcycles displayed.

The show is not just for gearhead enjoyment, it has a special mission to raise money for ‘Toys for Tot.'  Last year the show raised over $20,000 to buy toys.  Let's hope this year they are able to break that!

Special guest Candy Clark will be in attendance, from the movie “American Graffitti.”  $10,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to those taking part in the show.  There will be auctions, a live DJ, and a vendor area for getting that part you need.  Santa will be in attendance for children.   It should be a great time for everyone!  Be sure to stop by and maybe I will see you there.

Show Admission: $12, Kids 6 & Under Free

Where: Maryland State Fairgrounds, 2200 York Rd, Timonium MD, 21093

When:  Saturday 9am – 6pm, Sunday 9am – 4pm

R&H Car Show raises $2,100 for Children’s Guild

The 1st Annual R&H Car Show that took place on July 16th, 2011 to benefit The Children's Guild was a great success.  The staff and coordinators raised $2,100 for the worthy organization.

Over 100 vehicles of all types came out to R&H Toyota's brand new service center in support of the Children's Guild.  Including motorcycles, hot-rods, muscle cars, and imports.  There were 87 participants in the judging portion.  I am sure was quite difficult to judge since they were some amazing vehicles there.  Such as Trevor Boone's '01 Honda Accord with a polk audio system, lambo doors, and playstation.  A beautiful purple Kawasaki ZX1400 owned by Markus with every imaginable upgrade possible.  Some of my personal favorites at the show were a beautiful red Jaguar E-Type, Ford GT, and even a Ferrari.  A certain writer would love to own these!

There were also some great activities at the show.  Both Mobil1 and Shell had racing simulators setup for attendees to try out.  Trying out the simulators was quite fun and more difficult than I thought… just like real racing!  When I exited the Mobil1 simulator the guy exclaimed “Harder then it looks, huh?”  Sure was.  Shell and Mobil1 also had their race cars on display at the show along with the simulators.  It was great to see the vehicles up close.

“This was entirely a employee concept and they worked very hard to put this together.” said David Russell, General Manager for R&H Toyota.  “Everyone knew different people to bring to the show.  Vendors really stepped up to support this as well.”

The Children's guild is definitely an organization that needs people to step up to support it.  It serves the needs of children with trauma disorders, autism, or disabilities in the Maryland and Washington DC area.  Currently they are working on opening up several new schools in the area.  Any added support is much appreciated.

Next year should be even better with more cars, meaning a higher fund raising goal.  Mark your calendars!

Hereford Zone Car Show – Saturday June 18th

This Saturday there is going to be an awesome car show, the 7th Annual Hereford Zone Car Show.  The show is open to all makes, models, and years.  If you have a vehicle with wheels, you can bring it!  In past the show has had Model A's, Model T's, Hot-rods, classic cars, Ferrias, Lamborghinis, motorcycles, and even Fire Trucks.  This year should be bigger and better than ever before.  There are 200-300 vehicles expected this year, which is a lot larger than past shows.

The show also has an important cause to support, the Leib McDonald Techincal School Scholarship Fund.  The scholarship is for a graduating Senior from Hereford High School who will be attending a technical school for automotive technology, diesel mechanics, motorcycles, or HVAC..  Travis Brown is this year's recipient.  He was awarded the scholarship 3 weeks ago, and will be attending York Technical Institute for Motorcycle Mechanics.  Recipients are judged on several criteria including GPA, attendance records, letters of recommendations, and good fit for the scholarship.  It's a bit of a challenge to receive the scholarship and Travis should feel proud he got it.

Including the car show, right across the plaza there will be 100.7 The Bay's BBQ Bash.  There will also be activities for the whole family.  Crafts, games, live music, face painting, and contests with prizes.  Cars will be judged with 25 trophies to the top vehicles on display, and 34 different awards.  The first 100 cars will receive a great dash plaque.  It will be a fun day for all!
