yamaha r6

Hey Everyone, I am listing Gypsy Jack’s 2001 Yamaha R6 Champions Edition for sale.  This series of R6’s were a Limited Edition run and this is the #175 model that was made.  This specific Yamaha R6 is heavily modded and contains numerous upgrades and special parts too.  Here is a breakdown of what is on the motorcycle;

  • Full Akrapovic exhaust system – $1,100
  • Top of the line Marchesini wheels made of lightweight magnesium-  $2,000
  • Ohlins rear shocks – $900
  • Brembro brakes (top of the line for racing) – $600
  • Yoyodyne slipper clutch – $800
  • Crg, lever – $200
  • Scotts steering dampener – $475
  • Zero gravity windscreen – $65
  • Gaifer steel brake lines
  • RK chain
  • Renthal sprockets

… and even more! 🙂

The bike has $10,000+ worth of parts installed on it, some of which I will list later.  On top of all these parts the body panels are made of carbon fiber.   There is also a Quarter Turn throttle meaning to get to full throttle on this R6 you only need to turn a quarter turn.  This Yamaha R6 only has 14,000 miles on the odometer and it was always garage kept.

Remember this is Jack Moschetto‘s (Gypsy Jack) R6, a friend of mine who I posted about on this blog a few times and he was well known amount the “gearhead” community in Baltimore and surrounding areas.  You can see in the pictures below that this R6 is in immaculate condition.  Jack would clean this bike anytime he took it out to ride.  Often he would use toothbrushes to clean it up and make sure there was no road or dirt grime on it.

The bike has won an award from Yamaha several years ago but I haven’t had a chance to check to check with Yamaha.

Jack took incredible time to build rolling pieces of art and anyone who would want to buy this would be getting a great deal on a one-of-a-kind motorcycle that you won’t find anywhere else.

If you are interested in the motorcycle you can email me – cool AT adamsautoadvice.com – with any questions.  Let me know if you’d like additional information and pictures and I will try to provide you with as much as I can, but should let you know upfront I will probably refer you to a friend of Jack’s who is much more knowledgeable about motorcycles mods and this particular bike than I am.

Currently we are accepting reasonably offers on this bike but there is a reserve price set on the bike and it will not be sold any lower than that.

UPDATE: The asking price for the bike is $8,000.

DoorShox Car Door Protection Made Easy

One of the most annoying things for any car owner is coming out to your car in a parking lot and noticing a freshly minted dent or ding on your door. You look around because you know that wasn’t there before you went into the store. Well if you are tired of this happening than I have a good solution for you, it’s called a DoorShox.

What is a DoorShox? If the picture doesn’t make it clear, essentially the DoorShox is a device that helps you keep unwanted dings, scratches, and knicks from affecting your precious paint on your car doors. At first the DoorShox sounds a little too good to be true. However having used the Standard and Valet DoorShox models I can you tell you that the DoorShox is actually a well designed automotive product.

The DoorShox sticks to your car door with magnets. This allows it to stick securely to your car doors but makes taking them off a cinch. The DoorShox magnets are covered in silicone to prevent scratching your car paint.

DoorShox Magnet

With the silicone covered magnets this means the DoorShox can work on virtually any car or any car door. That is unless you have plastic car doors, in which case I would recommend you find some new wheels.

The first thing that struck me when I took the standard DoorShox out of the box and placed it onto my car was how well it is made. The rubber material is strong, yet flexible which helps absorb impacts from reckless and annoying opening car doors, should there happen to be any. I even asked someone who was curios about what I was putting onto my car to open their car door onto mine.  It worked flawlessly.  As well the security cable holding the two DoorShox pieces on the standard model is also quite thick and sturdy.  I even left the DoorShox on my car in the rain and it didn’t move.

What’s the market for the DoorShox? Well, anyone with a car that has doors. I at least hope your car has doors! 🙂

The DoorShox would be useful for instance if you are leasing a car, which is not a good idea. This is because when you go to turn in a leased vehicle the dealership goes over the the leased car with a fine tooth comb. They try to find any dent, ding, or scratch or other imperfection on the car they car charge you for. It’s the nature of the leasing business. With the DoorShox you would have some reassurance that at least door dings wouldn’t be a problem. Other areas and parts of your car you might need to be a little more careful.

I would also recommend the DoorShox if you know anyone that keeps getting their car doors dinged.  It would make an excellent Christmas or holiday gift for a gearhead or auto enthusiast.

The DoorShox is made by made by the same people that make the BumpShox, a bumper protection device which I have also used and tested.  You can checkout my review of the BumpShox.

You can buy the DoorShox directly from the website if you want to stop your door dings.  The Valet DoorShox is $70 and Standard DoorShox is $120 which might sound expensive until you get a body shop estimate.  You can also order the Standard DoorShox and Valet DoorShox from Amazon if you feel more comfortable.

Hunt Valley Cars and Coffee

Hunt Valley Cars and Coffee is having it’s 6-month anniversary tomorrow morning.  My friend Gypsy Jack has told me it’s turned into quite a big and fun “gearhead” meetup for people from around Maryland and Pennsylvania.  People will even drive up from Virginia for Hunt Valley Cars and Coffee to my understanding.

The Hunt Valley Cars and Coffee not only attracts a wide range of people, but cars and vehicles are diverse too.  Classics, tuners, exotics, sportbikes, cruisers, lowriders, hot rods, etc.  You name it, someone is going to come by with it, probably has, or eventually will.  Check out some pictures from Hunt Valley Cars and Coffee.

Where: Hunt Valley Towne Centre, 118 Shawan Rd, Hunt Valley MD, 21030

When: Saturdays, 7:30 am – 10:30 am

Why: Because you like talking with other gearheads!

People usually gather in front of the closed Best Buy, since that is where the most parking is.  Most people go over to Caribou Coffee to get coffee.  Some people stay until 10:30 but I believe most are out of there by 9:30.

FYI after or before) Cars and Coffee I would recommend going to the Pennsylvania Dutch Market on York Rd.  All you do is take a right on York Rd and go for about half a mile and then turn left onto Ashland Rd.  The baked goods, donuts, and food there is AMAZING and it’s run by Amish.  Also the coffee here will be better in my opinion.  It’s a great thing to do if you have out-of-town guests or want to treat yourself.  The Amish have me hooked on their apple fritters and cookies!

22nd Annual East Coast Indoor Nationals – Dec. 3-4

East Coast Indoor Nationals

If you love Cars and Motorcycles, there is only one place to be this weekend, the 22nd Annual East Coast Indoor Nationals.  This is the largest Pre-1973 All American Car & Motorcycle Show on the east coast!  There will be cool muscle cars, classic rides, antiques, hot-rods, drag cars, and custom motorcycles displayed.

The show is not just for gearhead enjoyment, it has a special mission to raise money for ‘Toys for Tot.’  Last year the show raised over $20,000 to buy toys.  Let’s hope this year they are able to break that!

Special guest Candy Clark will be in attendance, from the movie “American Graffitti.”  $10,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to those taking part in the show.  There will be auctions, a live DJ, and a vendor area for getting that part you need.  Santa will be in attendance for children.   It should be a great time for everyone!  Be sure to stop by and maybe I will see you there.

Show Admission: $12, Kids 6 & Under Free

Where: Maryland State Fairgrounds, 2200 York Rd, Timonium MD, 21093

When:  Saturday 9am – 6pm, Sunday 9am – 4pm
